The crops have been destroyed and the cattle perished,” he said, referring to livelihood problems for millions of people, which had been created by the rain and the ensuing floods. He announced that Rs1m compensation would be given to the families of each of the deceased. Shehbaz added that he had given a week’s time to the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) to distribute Rs25,000 to every rain-affected and displaced family in Sindh. Heavy downpour on Friday continued to pummel parts of the country already battered by calamitous floods of epic proportions, unleashing a fresh wave of death and destruction in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan and Sindh provinces.
