Punjab to hold three-day Ramazan Savings Festival in Lahore

The Punjab government will organise a three-day “Ramazan Savings Festival” at Jilani Park in Lahore from February 13 to 15, offering subsidised food items and family-oriented activities ahead of the holy month. The initiative, launched on the directives of the Chief Minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, aims to provide quality food items at affordable prices to the public before the start of Ramazan. Punjab Director General Food Authority Asim Javed chaired a meeting with stakeholders and was given a detailed briefing on arrangements for the festival. He said relief stalls would be set up to ensure the availability of essential commodities at reduced rates. Special arrangements have been made to ensure food safety and quality standards at all stalls. The festival will also highlight local culture, traditions, and regional heritage through various activities. Authorities have been directed to ensure a safe, pleasant, and family-friendly environment for visitors. Javed said Food Authority teams would continuously monitor the quality of food items, while prices and supply at all stalls would be closely supervised. Officials added that special discounts would be offered across a wide range of products to provide maximum relief to citizens before Ramazan begins. Meanwhile, Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) Chairperson Allama Dr Muhammad Raghib Hussain Naeemi has announced the nisab and rates of Sadaqatul Fitr and Fidyah for fasting for the current year. According to Dr Naeemi, the minimum amount of Sadaqatul Fitr and Fidyah has been fixed at Rs300 per person. Based on wheat flour, the amount is Rs300; barley Rs1,100; dates Rs1,600; raisins Rs3,800; and munqa Rs5,400. For those using government-subsidised flour, the amount has been set at Rs200 per person.
